The Company
Incorporated in 2004, Salt Media Sdn Bhd is a young company backed by age-old wisdom and experience. But that does not mean that our members are aged.
Our founders are however , media veterans who have over 75 years’ collective experience in the media industry. They are our four directors who make up the Salt Media Board, which we like to think is very much like a packet of crackers. If each of them were to have their distinct flavour, it would be:
• Rose Ismail (Blooming Crackers)
• Fatimah Abu Bakar (100% Crackpot)
• Shareem Amry (Crack-the-Whip)
• Sharon Nelson (Plain Crackers)
All four boast fresh and crisp ideas and are actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the company to ensure high-quality management at all times, and to make sure that the real taste of Salt, with a dash of cracker, is present in every project.
Salt Media also has a fully-owned subsidiary, Salt Shakers – our training arm. The Salt Shakers Board comprises Rose, Fati and Ham Abu Bakar (our very own nut cracker photographer).
What do we do? Our company focuses on developing intellectual content and providing strategic media consultancy services. When you come to us, you can expect not just excellent work, but the building of a relationship that ensures you are treated with care, confidentiality and respect.
We deliver work of high impact, tailored to individual requirements and, most importantly, affordable for you. Our clients now include both multinationals and local companies.
But enough about what we can do for you. This is About Us.
Salt Media is the first and only Malaysian company set up by a team made up exclusively of ex-journalists. Our members now include writers, trainers and photographers with between 10 and 27 years of experience in the newspaper, broadcast and entertainment industries. We ran our own editorial departments, interviewed and photographed heads of state, wrote books and trained a generation of Malaysian journalists and entertainers.
If that hasn’t wow-ed you yet, we count among our interns a Physics grad from Oxford and another who is on her way there for postgraduate studies. They don’t know what hit them (neither do we. We suspect they hit their heads on the way here), but they are ever so happy to get coffee and biscuits for us. Now that’s impressive.
