Facebook reportedly turned 6 years old yesterday, but seeing how far it’s managed to come in that time, it’s more like 30 human years…at least.
Consider this:
- Based on the latest estimates, Facebook is the fourth most populous “country” in the world, after China, India and the United States.
- It currently ranks 2nd in the list of websites with the busiest worldwide traffic.
- It is the most widely-used social networking website, and its members are using it to upload some 14 million photos every day.
- It is changing the way individuals, agencies and companies are branding themselves and reaching out to their target audiences.
- It is introducing new words into the global vocabulary. Some examples: “facebooking”, “superpoking” and “unfriend”.
Do you remember life before Facebook? I don’t.

Gosh, did I have friends before Facebook? Tell you what though, and I mean this in all honesty — HOW did we manage anything without Google?
Those are very impressive facts and figures. They prove that facebook is no longer just a social website, but an institution and a way of life. So are google, youtube and twitter.
