My loved ones, there is an SMS going around advising Christians to take down religious symbols from their cars for now, as a few have been broken into and vandalised. Perhaps, just for now, it is a quick fix for calming things down. It may also be a wise sfety measure to remove these things from front doors and such.
But my greatest concern is the urge for retaliation. The biggest battles lie in the human heart. Therefore, the most courageous thing to do is nothing. Apart from keeping safe, let’s also keep rational heads. It isn’t just anger in their air; it’s also hurt, and all parties feel it.
A friend of mine wrote this in Facebook. It calmed me immediately. I hope it does the same to you:
“If I lose a word, it doesn’t mean that I have lost God. And if I get to keep it, it doesn’t mean that I have kept God.”
It was a Hindu friend who called me this afternoon out of concern, and a Muslim friend who sent me the SMS. There are many more sensible and concerned people than we think — they just don’t make the headlines.
true indeed. even when sometimes or rather most times we feel frustrated and angry..but it is true that silence does not means cowardice. Prayer is the only thing that will help now.
